Starlett A. (Olsen) Paavilainen, 68, a resident of Pewabic Street in Laurium passed away on Tuesday morning September 2, 2014 at her home.
She was born on November 8, 1945 in Hancock a daughter of the late Jacob and Lena (Luttinen) Kinnunen and was raised in Boston Location.
On August 8, 1987 she was married to John Paavilainen in Ahmeek and he preceded her in death on March 1, 2014.
She graduated from Hancock High School with the class 1963.
Starlett worked as a certified nurses aide in the area, but for most of her life she was at home for her family. She was an incredible mom, grandma and aunt and will be dearly missed by all of her family. She enjoyed making jams and jellies she also made a great homemade pasty. She kept her Finnish heritage alive by using her Finnish speaking abilities to converse with her friends.
Preceding her in death was her parents, husband John, brothers: Gary and Russell and a son Bobby Sweeney.
Surviving are:
2 daughters: Kim (Tim) Reilly of Calumet;
Stacy (Doug) Kemppainen of Clarkston, MI;
5 grandchildren: Chelsea, Rheann, Cierra, Tom and Mikial.
2 Step Daughters: Donna (Ricky) White of Calumet
Tammy (Robert) Fountaine of Calumet
Little Sister leaves behind her 2 brothers: Reuben Luttinen of Laurium
Jerry (Deedee) Olsen of Calumet
Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday September 4, 2014 at 6:00 PM in the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet with Pastor Rodney Johnson to officiate.
Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet on Thursday from 5-6 PM
